  • Victoria just had her sixth baby, a beautiful little girl and she decided it was time for another family picture at the studio. Never has there been such well behaved kids! Wow! This is one of Christina’s more recent shoots with a little help from me on the studio lighting.

Emmylou was turning one and she had personality that demanded the camera and every one elses attention. She began by eating a Fantasy Cakes cupcake face first and slowly devouring it seemingly unsure of what was happening around her as two camera’s blazed away as she went. Soon after she finished what of the cupcake made it into her mouth we drove on down to the Capital to shoot her around the grounds. She wasn’t able to walk quite yet but she didn’t seem that interested in getting away from the cameras. I think she knew she was adorable and was loving the attention!

The Karlssons were leaving the country for Sweden and they really wanted Christina to shoot a family portrait of them so they could remember their stay in Austin. Today was my birthday and I got rooked into assisting on her shoot out of the blue, but it was actually really nice to assist and not be the shooter; Very relaxing actually and it turned out that the shoot was all part of my wife’s plan for a surprise birthday party. We went to Brushy Creek Lake Park in Cedar Park, a place I’d never been to except to the all important water park where my children run through water for fun, fun, fun!

The shoot went fabulous and as you can see from the images below the kids enjoyed the experience!

I was at Lowes today with Corbin grabbing a doorknob since our front doorknob died actually locking us in the house. at the check-out a lady in a Lowes outfit came up to Corbin and asked him if he wanted a treat. When doesn’t he want a treat? He walked into a small room while I checked out and when I went to find him in the room he was standing on a table with a Lowes apron and goggles. I think he thought the treat was going to be something that he could eat.

It is just amazing doing a maternity portrait and then doing a newborn shot of the little baby that was in there! How miraculous that we all start out like this! Elizabeth has to be one of the sweetest babies I have ever seen. She is just a few days old here, and you can see that Mom and Dad are helplessly in love with her.

My friend Lori did a really special thing for me a few months ago and I’d been meaning to find a way to pay her back the favor so we found a second to grab her kids in the studio and shoot some shots of them. I’ve met a lot of kids and most of them tend to be shy when a camera is pointed at them, but not these two. They walked right out onto the paper and started playing. Wow. If only I had that kind of moxy, oh wait, I do.

Being a photographers kid must be tough. From birth until you move out you get dragged into weird situations where a camera is pointed at you and the shutter is released. Sometimes it can be humiliating, some times it can almost be fun. But what those kids don’t realize is that they’re going to change over time and eventually going to move out and all their parents will have is a few precious pictures to remember them and an occasional phone call or if you’re really lucky, a personal visit. We were setting up for a shoot at the studio with the kids there and Christina shot a few of the boys.

Cael was a little bit feisty and didn’t want to let go of his mom until dad and his big brother entered the picture.  Then I think he was just confused because everyone had their shirts off.  Christina and Megan shot this one and this is what happens when I leave the studio, girls?  Guys without shirts and babies?

Christina loves babies. Everything about them. She mostly loves to photograph them to capture their little faces and feet for the future when those faces and feet have changed so much.
