George and Lara attended Andrea and Trey’s fabulous wedding at the Hotel Derek on 2/29/08.  When it came time for them to plan their own wedding, they gave us a call.  We had a blast shooting their engagements in downtown Houston.  We ended the evening feasting at Maryz, an amazing Lebanese restaurant in Houston.   It was so much fun, we didn’t mind getting home to Austin at 2am.  We can’t wait for their wedding in September!

Kim and David are getting married at the Four Seasons this September.  After our initial consultation, Kim needed to sleep on it before making a decision.  She emailed in the morning saying David was mad at her for not booking us that night!  I think he forgave by the time we did their engagements at the Long Center.  Don’t they look adorable together?

Brandy was referred to us by Samantha, whose fabulous wedding we photographed in 2008. Brandy and Travis’ wedding will be on November 6, 2010, at the Cotton Club, a steak house and dance hall in Granger, TX. Travis’ family runs the Cotton Club, and we expect everyone will have a grand ol’ time! Boy are they lucky they booked us when they did last December. November 6 has proven to be the most popular date in 2010 among our potential clients.   I took Brandy and Travis out to Taylor, one of my favorite photo shoot locations, for their engagement portraits. I think we got some amazing images!

We had a grand time shooting Kara and Ben’s engagement pictures.  The funnest part was our quest to find Powell street, as that will be the happy couple’s last name. They are getting married at Kindred Oaks next month.  Stay tuned for the fabulous wedding pictures!

Can you feel the drama?  You have to do something dramatic when you’re shooting at the Long Center! Tanya and Phil are such a fun couple with such great chemistry.  It’s probably not surprising that they met training at a martial arts school. Very dedicated to their training and to each other, they are both black belts in the Korean martial art of Tukong Moosul.  It was so fun shooting them spar!  We look forward to their wedding at House on the Hill in later this month.

Every wedding is a wonderful opportunity to get to know a couple and find out what makes them tick.  We have made some amazing friends that way. But sometimes you have the pleasure of working with someone you already know and love.  This was certainly the case with Lindsay and Trent.  Lindsay is the event coordinator for our favorite venue, Nature’s Point.  We have always enjoyed working with her since we first met her when she was with Sterling Affairs.  She is so pleasant and helpful and is able to deal with any potentially stressful situation during a wedding with such grace and poise.  Always friendly and eager to serve her clients, Lindsay is also extremely organized and runs a tight ship leading up to and on the wedding day.  You can imagine our delight and surprise when she asked us to be her wedding photographers!  We had so much fun hanging out with Lindsay and getting to know Trent during their engagement.  What a wild goose chase we went on for this very cool El Dia de los Muertos mural that actually exists in two places in Austin.  But it was worth it, as you can see from the pictures!

We first met the lovely and vivacious Maryam at Charlie’s wedding in 2007.  Maryam was the best bridesmaid ever! She came along for Charlie and Derek’s engagement shoot and wrangled their dogs. She came along for Charlie’s bridal shoot and was the perfect production assistant. And of course she took care of Charlie on the wedding day.  We are so excited to be photographing her wedding to David this October at the Hofmann Ranch in San Antonio.  Charlie has some difficult bridesmaid shoes to fill!

Emily and Ben, what an accomplished couple! Ben is serving his country in the armed forces and Emily is a graduate student studying microbiology at UT. We took some very dramatic engagement pictures of them at the Capitol and overlooking the Pennyback Bridge. We look forward to their wedding at Hamilton Twelve in May.

Caroline and Lee are are just the sweetest couple!  Lee is from Britain and Caroline is from Australia.  They met in Houston while working at the same company.  They have been planning a destination wedding at the amazing Nature’s Point here in Austin for this April.  A week after their wedding, they are moving to Australia!  What a whirlwind!  They weren’t quite sure if they wanted to do engagements pictures.  I told them it was a great way me to build rapport with them, so they will be even more comfortable on the wedding day.  Here is what Caroline had to say after seeing the pictures:

“We are absolutely thrilled with the pictures.  I (Caroline!!!) had a little cry when I saw them as I was just so happy.  Thank you so much!  Already our families are trying to decide which images they want.”

“Thank you for making the afternoon so enjoyable, we really did have a good time.  It was great to spend a bit of time with you and to get to know you a little better.”

I think she was happy I suggested they do an engagement

I love shooting in Taylor Texas! The gritty old half abandoned downtown is such a great place to wonder around with a subject. Our first shoot here in 2007 was so awesome that people have seen the pictures on the blog or in our portfolio and requested to shoot there and sometime even bring the studio’s old white couch out to throw in the street on a lazy Saturday evening.

Britni and Bryan and didn’t ask for the couch but loved our other work in Taylor so we shot Halloween afternoon before too many people started coming out in costumes. The couple was great and after a few places in Taylor we picked up and went north on 195 to the old wooden bridge. The bridge itself had been abandoned and a concrete bridge stood 50 feet away that now ran all of the traffic on this very small rural road. Nearby there were also beautiful lush fields to shoot in as well. All in all a very amazing shoot!
